Whether you're just starting or returning to tennis or play in one of our club teams, you could be a winner!
The aim of the Handicap competition is to allow all players to have an equal chance of winning the tournament. Simply, instead of starting each game at 0-0 (scratch), an experienced player will need to play more points to win each game and a less experienced player will need to win less points to win a game.
As an example, a less experienced player may start at +30 (a +30 handicap) and an experienced player at -30 (a -30 handicap). So, the less experienced player needs to win 2 points whereas the experienced player needs to win 6 points in a game. It is a great leveller!
As a hint on handicaps when playing doubles, it is best to mix an experienced and less experienced player in a team. Two experienced players will have a handicap of say -40 meaning they have to win 7 points per game, whereas a mixed ability team may have a handicap of 0 meaning they have to only win 4 points.
Sign up outside the Clubhouse and also join the RLTC 2024 Handicap What's App group.
Entries close 23rd June and draws will be announced on 1st July, with the Finals Day on Saturday 28th September with a party afterwards, so save the date.
Good luck!
