FRIDAY EVENING JUNIOR TENNIS

We have been fortunate that the rain has kept away from our Friday evenings and that both sessions have been well attended during the month. Some of you may be wondering when are we going to hold a Superstars event. Well James has decided to change the format and starting with this coming Friday 2nd June, a competition based on Teams namely Friday Night Team Challenge will be held.

Basically, all the juniors will be organised into 4 teams. Players will wear coloured wrist bands, Red, Yellow, Blue and Green. Team names will be Nadal, Federer, Djokovic and Murray. All the points gained by players will go to their team. It should be a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, we can’t do Suppers with the Team event but will instead have a separate Suppers evening on Friday 9th June. I will take bookings for this during registration this coming Friday and for those that aren’t around this Friday then please email me with your bookings stating 1st or 2nd sitting to rvskalsky@ntlworld.com.

AEGON TENNIS TEAMS 2017

May was a very busy month for our Junior AEGON Teams playing 19 matches. After a positive start in April we suffered several losses during May with an overall result of 12 losses, 6 wins and a draw. Some of the losses were very close and several individual matches were just as close. It should also be noted that we do have several teams in the highest Divisions i.e. Division 1. The Team match results are shown below:

RLTC CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017

Our Junior Club Championships are now up and running with the draws posted and matches being played. I had to re-schedule the U9 events for Finals Day as it proved impossible to schedule them during our Friday Junior Tennis evenings however the U8 events will be played on the Friday evenings of 9th, 16th and 23rd June. To all players please ensure matches are completed by the Round completion dates.

QUORN FAMILY CUP RED BALL TOURNAMENT

We held this event on the afternoon of Saturday 20th May. It was a very overcast day with the threat of rain constantly in the air combined with blustery conditions. We had eight families competing in one Round Robin group, each match consisting of one match tiebreak to 10 points. Playing with Sponge Red-balls in the prevailing conditions proved challenging for both adults and children but a lot of the matches were keenly contested. After six rounds of matches there were two families still undefeated, Olivia Sibbering & Wayne Caba and Ethan & Andy Wright. Unfortunately for the Wright Family, they seemed to run out of steam in the final round of matches as Olivia & Wayne comfortably won their match.

So, congratulations to the winners, Olivia & Wayne, who get a day out at a Quorn Family Tennis Cup event held on the qualifying weekend of a LTA grass court major event in June. Besides the main prize, everyone received various prizes from the QUORN goody box. I have posted a photo of all the families on the Club Pitchero Website and all the match results are on the Junior Notice Board.

CONTINUED SUCCESS FOR JOSH WILSON AT JUNIOR ITF

Our highest rated Junior player Josh Wilson has continued his success at ITF Grade 4 events by reaching the Singles Final in Estonia. He played the number one seed in the Final and got off to a great start by leading the match 6-4, 5-2 but in Josh’s words his opponent hardly put a foot wrong in winning the next five games to level the match. The third set was equally fought out but Josh eventually lost it 5-7. Well done to Josh as his Junior World ranking continues to rise.

CLUB BRANDED CLOTHING

Hopefully you will have seen the email regarding our new online shop for Club Branded Clothing. It covers all age groups from the youngest to Adults. I have copied some of the information for you below:

You can now browse and buy Club-branded clothing via the Reigate LTC online shop. Choose from t-shirts, polo shirts, jackets, fleeces and many other items! All garments are embroidered with the "RLTC" logo.

Clothing is available for men, women and children, each in a variety of sizes and colours.

Why not customise your item further and choose from some of the optional extras*? You can select a back print of "REIGATE LTC" or "TEAM". Alternatively, add your initials to the front of your chosen item.

To access the Club's online shop, simply visit www.reigateltc.org.uk and then click on the "Shop" button located towards the top-right of the home page. All profit earned by Reigate LTC on sales is reinvested back into the Club.

Want to have a closer look? Samples of most of the items are available to examine on the clothing rail in the Clubhouse, which should be accessible whenever the bar is open. (Note that some men's and women's items are available as samples in a children's size, which should allow you to at least feel the material even if the sizing is too small.)
